My Story


After decades of letting my emotions run rampant in my life, I started therapy in my late 40s. I was in the throes of perimenopause. I felt sad all the time. We were making a move we had planned for years, and the pieces of our plan were coming together while I was falling apart. I was on the struggle bus...for real. I made a promise to myself that I would seek therapy once we were relocated. Four days after our move, I walked into my first individual talk therapy session. It was one of the first times, in a long time, that I remember keeping a promise to myself, and when I left, I wondered why I had waited so long.
Each of us has arrived at this place in our lives due to various emotional and physical experiences. But even two people with the same trauma may process it very differently. This is the very reason that somatic healing is so successful among women.
